Sweaty Betty and Beyond Yoga are two popular brands that, on the surface, seem to make nearly identical products. However, as you’ll learn in this guide comparing the two, there are some stark and important differences to know before you buy.

A U.K.-based but global brand, Sweaty Betty manufactures a range of athleticwear suitable for different activities, from running to interval training to water sports. Beyond Yoga is another well-known name in the fitness and wellness industries. The main draw to Beyond Yoga is its insanely silky fabrics — the first thing you’ll read in most reviews is how soft and touchable the fabrics are. Beyond Yoga stays ahead of the trend, always releasing new fits and patterns that become extremely popular. The brand's following mainly consists of people who do yoga, pilates, barre and other similar workouts. Lots of people also love Beyond Yoga for their comfy loungewear.

Though the verdict isn't as clear cut as our Lululemon vs. Alo Yoga Battle, Sweaty Betty comes out on top by winning three out of five categories.

Both Sweaty Betty and Beyond Yoga offer premium athletic wear, but Sweaty Betty differentiates itself just enough to take the win on this one. And here's why.

You simply won't find the same things at Sweaty Betty and Beyond Yoga. Yes, both brands sell leggings, sports bras and such but in wildly different ways. Beyond Yoga specializes in super soft, leisure-like wear designed specifically for low-impact exercise (hence "yoga" in the name).

Sweaty Betty, on the other hand, offers a wider range of products to accommodate different activities. You can find loungewear at Sweaty Betty, but you’ll also find performance-driven, compressive leggings built to hold up to high-impact workouts.

Both brands are rather pricey and have comparable prices for sports bras, shorts, tops, leggings and pants. If you’re buying more than one item, you can easily expect to spend more than $100. You may spend more than $100 on just one pair of leggings or pants from either brand.

However, Sweaty Betty does have a 20% discount for first-time buyers, as well as a 20% discount for students on all full-priced items. Sweaty Betty also offers lots of "kits," which are bundles of clothing items lumped together for a discount. Healthcare workers get 25% off and fitness professionals get 30% off, too (you have to contact the brand to secure those deals).

Beyond Yoga doesn't have as robust a selection of offers, but you can browse the sale page to find discounted items. And as mentioned previously, you can sign up for emails and texts to receive a 15% discount.

Sweaty Betty easily takes this category because it offers a pay-over-time option with Klarna whereas Beyond Yoga does not currently offer any financing options. With the prices being so high, it's a pretty big deal that Sweaty Betty offers monthly payment options — that $500 shopping cart could turn into a $41 monthly payment for a year.

Though Beyond Yoga doesn't offer financing options, you can purchase Beyond Yoga clothes with a credit card, PayPal Credit or other personal lines of credit. You just can't get a no-interest loan for it.

Sweaty Betty has a handful of retail locations across the U.K. and U.S. (in Nordstrom stores only), as well as Canada. Still, these stores are mainly in major metropolitan areas, so most people can't walk into their local mall and try on Sweaty Betty. Because activewear styles can be so tricky (can anyone just order their size confident it’ll fit? Not I), having some retail locations is a huge perk if you’re lucky enough to live near one.

But, that's still a leg up over Beyond Yoga, which has no retail locations. Beyond Yoga does have a wholesale program, though, so you might find Beyond Yoga clothes in an athleticwear boutique in your city.

If you can't find an opportunity to try on clothes, don't fret. Both brands offer free shipping and free returns, so you’re still trying the clothes on risk-free.

Both Beyond Yoga and Sweaty Betty offer most items in sizes XXS to XL. However, Beyond Yoga has several items available in sizes XXL to 4XL. The size range is proof that Beyond Yoga stays true to their body inclusivity mission, representing women of all sizes.

It doesn't seem that Sweaty Betty has any items that run larger than XXL, but perhaps that's something the brand is working on expanding, as Sweaty Betty does have several female-forward initiatives, including a gender pay promise and a nonprofit foundation for young girls.

If you want buttery soft, uber-comfortable, loungewear-like yoga clothes, go with Beyond Yoga. If you want compressive, durable, bright workout clothes, go with Sweaty Betty. The best choice for you depends on what type of athleticwear you need.

Most customer reviews across the internet indicate that both brands are worth the money. Like Lululemon, both Sweaty Betty and Beyond Yoga have cult-like followings and die-hard fans. That's enough of an indication that these brands make high-quality and comfortable products.

However, if you just can't bring yourself to pay an arm and a leg for athletic clothes (we don't blame you), consider these other brands that sell premium workout clothes for less.
