Boy, 11, injured in 'hit and run' as he rode bike in Haydock

AN ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy was injured after being knocked down by a car in a 'hit-and-run' this afternoon, Monday.

Police are appealing for information after the reported "fail-to-stop collision" involving the car and a child in Haydock.

At around 12.55pm on Monday, June, 5 it was reported that an 11-year-old boy was on a pedal bike when he was involved in a collision with a car at the junction of Queens Road and King George Road.

Police say the boy sustained "a minor leg injury" and that the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene. It is believed that the driver was female and the car was a black BMW.

A Merseyside Police spokesman added: "Our inquiries are ongoing into this incident and anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 445 of June 5."
